Welcome animal lovers! The Arizona Humane Society offers a variety of animal youth camps throughout the summer for kids and teens ages 5-17 who are interested in learning more about animals.
Summer Camp Sessions
- Animal Ed-ventures (ages 6-8)

During this exciting, week-long ed-venture, campers will discover how they can make a difference in the lives of animals as we encounter a variety of animal ambassadors, fun interactive games and activities, and put our compassion into action through enrichment projects that benefit our homeless pets. Your camper will broaden their understanding of issues facing animals in our community, and learn what they can do to be a voice for all animals. Buckle up, because these animal ed-ventures are about to take off!

- Jr. EAMT (ages 11-13)

Your child will explore the world of AHS’ animal rescuers alongside real-life Emergency Animal Medical Technicians (EAMTs™)! This one-of-a-kind program allows preteens interested in the world of animal rescue and first response to practice field medicine techniques, learn how to use rescue equipment, and get firsthand experience from the team that does it best- our AHS ‘animal cops! Don’t miss out on this hands-on career discovery experience!

- Wild Wonders (ages 6-8 and 9-12)

Join the Arizona Humane Society, Phoenix Herpetological Sanctuary, and more, for the most hands-on camp experience we offer! Campers will learn to preserve, coexist and keep pets safe around our wild neighbors, all while meeting the special wild animal guests from these lifesaving organizations. Ambassador animals like rescued hedgehogs, tortoises, and even alligators will help students see the dedication and time that is put into saving these precious lives. Through compassion, preservation and conservation, we will learn the best ways that partner organizations in the Valley work together to improve the lives of all animals!

- Pet Vets (ages 13-15)

Has your child always talked about working with animals? Are they starting to explore the idea of becoming a veterinarian? Pet Vets at the Arizona Humane Society is a great place to get started! This science-based program focuses on the building blocks of veterinary science and allows young teens to test out the realities of this career option. Students will have the option to view live surgeries in our veterinary clinic and will acquire hands-on experience during daily specimen dissections as they study animal anatomy and physiology. Additionally, students will be introduced to pet first aid, CPR, and a variety of experiments, as well as, hands-on interaction with animals each day. This science-centric program is sure to provide teens with a real worldview of what a career in animal medicine will bring!
*Once registered for “Pet Vet” program, interested 13-15 year-olds will be eligible to register for “Advanced Vet Camp.”

- Advanced Vet Camp (15-17)*

*Participants must either be between 15-17 OR a 13-15 “Pet Vet” graduate to be eligible for this advanced program.
This fun, career-discovery program for teenage animal enthusiasts focuses on employment options within the veterinary field and beyond! We’ll be taking things to the next level through more advanced course work that includes everything your young adult needs to understand what a career in animal medicine might mean to them. Students will have the option to view live surgeries in our veterinary clinic and will acquire hands-on experience during daily advanced specimen dissections as they study animal anatomy and physiology.

- Pawsitive Service Camp: 1/2 Day Camp (ages 14-17; neurodivergent youth)

This session is for neurodivergent youth and teens ages 14-17. This program offers a safe yet challenging camp experience aimed at developing new skills, and gaining various vocational and recreational hands-on experiences within AHS. Program hours count as service hours, and can be used to help build a unique skillset that will enhance any resume or college/ career application.

- Paws for a Cause: 1/2 Day Camp (ages 5-6)

During this 3-day long camp, campers will spend half day camp sessions at our South Mountain Campus engaging in fun games, activities, and crafts in addition to hands-on animal interaction. Campers will learn about the many ways that animals (and people) communicate their needs and emotions to help promote empathy and respect for all living things. This camp offers something for every young animal lover and is sure to be a howling good time!

Yes! We are excited to offer summer camp scholarships, thanks to generous donors and partners who have a passion for educating our community’s young animal lovers. Scholarships must be applied for at the link below. Letters of reference are required.
