- A Phoenix dog owner threw gasoline on her two dogs in an attempt to break up a fight that the two dogs were in. The dogs then ran past an open flame and both caught on fire.
- The owner attempted to treat the wounds with home remedies. The dogs were not seen by a veterinarian for several days.
- The dogs are now fighting for their lives at AHS’ Second Chance Animal Trauma Hospital. One of the dogs is suffering wounds that cover 30% of his body, and the other dog suffers from deeper wounds and lacerations. Both dogs are being treated with pain killers, antibiotics and ongoing burn treatment.
- The owner now faces two felony animal cruelty charges and is in custody at the Maricopa County Detention Center.
